"The Unwritten Rule" by Elizabeth Scott, Mar. 4, Pages 1-98
This was the other book I bought on TAKS day (not Dessen, my bad) and the one I gave my friend to read because I had a bigger book that I had already started. She gave it back and gave it rave reviews, saying that I absolutely had to read it, as soon as I could. I was reluctant- I know this type of book. Not exactly a romance, but definitely involves some romantic action. The books are good but some of them look the same-girls with perfect lives and boyfriends but aren't happy and I had grabbed this book because it was the one that looked the most interesting. It's about a girl who has liked her gorgeous best friend's boyfriend and she has liked him for a while. But, the unwritten rule is you can't like your best friend's boyfriend. So the main girl, Sarah, is in a tough spot.
I'm not that far into the book but I like it so far. Sarah is pretty real and down-to-earth but I feel bad for her. It seems like she loves her best friend but has always been in her shadow. That's got to really suck- when people hear your name, they think of your friend cause that's how your defined- as So and So's friend. I hope the book doesn't get all cliche on me but I like it so far so we'll see how it turns out!
I would like to read this book now that you and Amber both wrote about it. Can you relate to the idea of being in someone's shadow? Or do you think anyone has felt the same way about being in your shadow?
ReplyDeleteA little of both I think. I think every one feels both ways some point in their lives.
